  i was at a wedding last summer were i met an old friend.

  he had been reinstated for 6 months, he was dfed for 4 years.. he had been an elder for 10 years before that, he had commited adultery with another "brothers" wife.

  i asked him how it was going.

  God I hate this bull shit.

  I was in the same cong as Paul Dural (now dead) He started "Service Organizers"....He has turned that into a large buisness with 6 plus employees making $100,000s a year.

  How Ironic he would make $90 bucks for selling one bible, I made $.90 cents a day for making them at Bethel.

  they brag about the fact that they the don' t baptize their babies because "how can a baby 'know' what religion it wants to believe in the rest of it's life!".

  but a 14 year old does?.....they put so much presure on their children to get dunked, that if your not baptize by 18 years old there is something really "wrong" with you.. so the poor kid does it, just to get everyone off their backs.

  legally a minor can't be held to a contract if they are under 18 years old and why?

  I really like congac's statment about not knowing what disfollewshiping even was at 12...

  What if they handed everyone a piece of paper before baptizm stating all the things that could happen to them if they ever left...that would be full disclosure!

  What a good point...they would never what you to get married at 18!....They would figure you were just "in love"....and not thinking correctly...The funny thing is, It's a lot easier to get out of a marriage then leave them.

  I was 17 and one of the last ones of my group to get dunked....I wanted to be sure...what a joke!

  So now he is twenty and doesn't what to be a JoHo anymore....He leaves and now he is screwed...can't talk to anyone, no more family...They punish him for making the wrong decision, on what religion to be in. What bull shit...

  he was df'd as a teenager, moved away and never looked back.

  "k" has family he keeps in touch with.

  Well I guess I look at things a little differently....

  I think we need to display love, even if they can't...

  Personaly I would have wrote a letter about my marriage and then about my kids....(their grand kids). It would say something like...

  Dear Mom and Dad

  I just want you to know I'm getting married next month to a wonderful girl who loves me unconditionaly, which sadly to say you can not. We plan to have children....which I'm sure, your going to want to see, but since I'm not welcome in your home, it would make no sence to let them come over. Has a parent I will always love my children unconditionaly, no matter what religion they choose for themselfs in their later years .....and since you and Dad don't have that ability....I and my family have no deisre to be around either of you....When you stop serving your hateful god give us a call.

  Do you believe we are alone (Aliens, God and Angels)?

  a post someone else made, just made me want to start a discussion on the ideas of aliens, people from other planets, etc and our ideas of god, jesus and angels/demons.. the first time i ever even thought about this on any real level was when i was taking a greek mythology course and we were talking about avatars and the like, at the very same time i was taking a philosophy course and started discussing "did god create man or did man create god".

  it was during that semester that that a group of friends and i started having these very existential discussion which lead to some very interesting questions and dialogue.

  i have never looked at things the same.. flash forward to about three and a half years ago and through a chain of events, i am in a room with people from nasa working on a grant proposal.
